Ep. 125 Mari Lwyd Part 1

This week Bri & Ber go into a Welsh tradition that spans over Christmas and New Years, the Mari Lwyd. In this first half they discuss what this tradition entails, how folklorists try to figure out it's start through etymology, and go over multiple possible origins. All of this after they discuss horror movies with too many sequels.

Ep. 124 Yuki-Onna

This week Bri & Ber look into a well known snow spirit in Japanese folklore, the Yuki-onna! They go over the multiple versions of well known stories, how you know you've encountered a Yuki-onna, and how there's nothing you could do to defend yourself because Yuki-onnas don't care about rules. Bri also drops a hint about what unnecessary things she wants for as presents.

Ep. 123 Nisse

This week Bri & Ber start their winter themed topics off exploring a house spirit of Scandinavian folklore, the Nisse! They go over it's origins, how to keep your Nisse happy, what the consequences could be if you upset it, and how it's shifted to be a creature that delivers presents during Yule. As well as revisit Ber's need for a black goat with a beard.

Ep. 122 Aswang Part 2

This week Bri & Ber continue learning about the Aswang, a creature from Filipino folklore. They discuss it's origin and influences; which includes its home, behavior and a genetic disorder that may have influenced the tales. As well as going over its different portrayals in media, such as film, television and literature.

Ep. 121 Aswang Part 1

This week Bri & Ber begin their multi-episode dive on a creature from Philippine folklore, the Aswang. They go over the different types of aswang, what behavior they display, and the best countermeasures to take when you encounter one. As well as bringing back some catch phrases that haven't been heard in a while.

Ep. 120 Taniwha

This week Bri & Ber take their curiosity to New Zealand and learn about the Taniwha! They learn about this creature's origins, it's duality of protector and predator, and it's effects on pop culture today. As well as quickly learning why Bri wouldn't last having a monster hunting show.

Ep. 119 Samyaza

This week Bri & Ber look into a fallen angel that was the lead a group of other angels to forsake heaven and live on the wild side, Samyaza. They go over the history of Samyaza and his group known as the watchers, a few cultural variations, and his effect on pop culture. After having a small intervention for Ber's phone game addiction.

Ep. 118 Witchcraft Part 3

This week Bri and Ber complete part 3 of their deep dive on Witchcraft! They end the short series with an overview of Europe, specifically focusing on Italy and Spain. Followed by an exploration of Russia's history with spells, the societal views, and witch trials. Sprinkled with their normal amount of off topic conversation.

Halloween Special 2020

Continuing with the tradition of the last 2 years, Bri & Ber dedicate their Halloween special to a horror film. They do a deep dive on "Don't Be Afraid of the Dark" a screenplay by Guillermo del Toro; a film that makes you think twice about that older home you were thinking about purchasing and question anything you know about fairies.

Ep. 117 Witchcraft Part 2

This week Bri & Ber continue their deep dive on Witchcraft, by going into different regions views and reactions to witchcraft. They go over Africa, some of the Americas, and some of Asia. While only being mildly distracted by Austin's shenanigans and discussions of Studio Ghibli movies.
